About Us

Understanding our purpose, values, and the journey that guides our work.

Our Story

The Beginning During Lockdown
established Jay Ghosh Seva Foundation in 2020 during the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown. On 25th March 2020, when the lockdown was announced, a deep concern arose within us - how would daily wage workers and financially vulnerable families manage their basic needs when everything had suddenly come to a standstill? With this thought in mind, we decided to take the first step from our own homes by preparing tea and snacks for 50 individuals.

Despite strict police enforcement and heavy movement restrictions, we stepped out early in the morning with only one intention to serve those in need. Initially, we were stopped due to regulations, but after explaining that our sole purpose was to distribute tea and snacks to the poor, we were permitted to proceed. When we distributed the tea and biscuits, the gratitude and relief on their faces deeply moved us, and many requested that if possible, proper meals could also be arranged, which strengthened our resolve to continue.

Growing from 50 to 200 Meals
We began preparing full meals at home regularly, ensuring that the food was simple, nutritious, and sufficient for those who depended on it. As the number of beneficiaries increased steadily, we appointed a local woman to cook while we personally handled packaging and distribution to maintain consistency and care in every delivery.

We shared updates and photographs within our community groups and as more families became aware of the initiative, they generously contributed financial support. Through collective trust, shared responsibility, and continuous effort, what started as support for 50 individuals evolved into a structured and sustained meal distribution effort serving 200 people every day.

Extending Support Beyond Food
During the lockdown, we realized that hardship was not limited to daily wage workers, as many middle-class working families were also facing financial distress. We therefore distributed grocery kits worth ₹2,500 to Jain families and ₹1,000 kits to other needy families, along with medicines for those unable to afford treatment. For nearly three months, despite the difficulty of stepping outside, we continued serving with commitment. In one rare medical case affecting only one or two individuals in India, we provided ₹1.5 lakh for urgent treatment, which by God's grace helped save a life, and there have been several such instances where timely assistance made a meaningful difference.

Registration and Continued Commitment
As many well-wishers wished to contribute through cheque payments, we formally registered Jay Ghosh Seva Foundation to ensure transparent donation processes, and after its announcement, we received approximately ₹15 lakh in donations. Over the past six years, we have continued distributing flour and cooking oil every Sunday to 200 families, along with grocery and medical assistance to families in need. Each year, we manufacture 7,000 to 8,000 notebooks and distribute them at a subsidized rate of ₹100 per dozen, and we also support educational fees for children from financially struggling households.

Today, team members including Dharmendrabhai, Sanjaybhai, Taralbhai, Udaybhai, and Nitinbhai offer their service every Sunday, and we express heartfelt gratitude to all families and supporters. With the blessings of God, and under the guidance of Acharya Bhagwant Jay Sundar Surishwarji, Acharya Bhagwant Mahabodhi Surishwarji, Acharya Bhagwant Prem Sundar Surishwarji, as well as Sadhus and Sadhvijis Bhagwant, we continue this work with faith and responsibility.
